MOBILE AUTHENTICATION - ALWAYS AND EVERYWHERE
Silent Network Authentication (SNA) is fast, secure, and seamless. But because mobile identity APIs are still maturing, coverage gaps exist – not all Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) offer APIs, many MVNOs are not covered.
IDlayr Reverse SMS is the solution for these coverage gaps. It offers a high-security, low-friction fallback for SNA that works wherever your users are, using an approach that strengthens – not weakens – your security posture.
Why It Matters
Complete coverage with secure, mobile authentication.
- Full coverage, even in challenging environments
IDlayr Reverse SMS works even where SNA is not available, including on unsupported MNOs and MVNOs, ensuring you can always verify your mobile users wherever they are.
- Stronger than legacy SMS OTP
Unlike legacy OTP methods, IDlayr uses a secure token sent by reverse SMS (from the mobile device) to confirm the mobile number, eliminating the risk of SIM swap, and man-in-the-middle attacks.
- Combine with SNA for optimum performance
IDlayr intelligently uses Reverse SMS as a backup when real-time network verification is not possible, maintaining a seamless user experience without compromising trust.
How it works
IDlayr generates a secure token and uses the mobile device itself to send an SMS that confirms the user’s mobile number, with added security factors built in.
- When SNA is unavailable, IDlayr Reverse SMS can be triggered automatically.
- The user’s device creates an SMS containing a secret code which it sends to a randomized receiving number.
- The user taps to consents to the message being sent (messages are free to the user).
- The round-trip message confirms mobile number, while additional factors verify authenticity.
- The user is authenticated quickly and easily with high confidence.
